Seems like you probably gotta do mine

Seems like you probably got a dope mind

But it's gotta be the right time

But it's gotta be the right time

We're only good for the night time

We're only good for the night time

I see through your demeanor

Baby, I'm a pleaser

Baby, I'm a pleaser

I go out my way to treat you

But I can't be a teacher

But I can't be a teacher

'Cause I'm a problem with problems

I know who I am and I'm not no good

You can have me tonight or never

I thought you understood

Baby, some people are meant to be loved and others just make it

Baby, some people are meant to be loved
So take what I'm willing to give and love it or hate it

Wrong (stylised as wRoNg) is a song recorded by British singer and songwriter Zayn, featuring American singer and songwriter Kehlani for his debut solo studio album, Mind of Mine (2016).

It was written by Zayn Malik, Wells, Griffin, Rains, Emerson, Waviest and Kehlani Parrish, and produced by XYZ. It was released as the third single from the album on June 7, 2016.

Lyrically, "Wrong" is about "looking in the wrong place for love".[1]

Background

Zayn sung and wrote one of the songs, "Wrong", in collaboration with American R&B singer and songwriter Kehlani.[2]

According to Malik, he "reached out to her, played a couple of songs for her in L.A. and she's really cool, she liked the music, so she got in the studio within a couple of days, she gave me a song back that she wanted me to do, and we just got it done straight away."[3]

Malik originally wrote "Wrong" as a rap, which he then used to create lyrics for the song. "Wrong" incorporates elements from early 2000s R&B music.[4]

Release

"Wrong" impacted US rhythmic contemporary radio stations on 7 June 2016 as the third single. It later impacted US urban contemporary radio on June 28, 2016. It is expected to be released soon in the United Kingdom.

Reception

Sputnik Music said that,"“Wrong” features excellent back-and-forth between Malik and up-and-comer Kehlani, who delivers an infectious guest verse."[5]

"“Wrong” is a winningly sensual duet with the rising American R&B singer Kehlani that recalls the crackle of Justin Timberlake’s early solo recordings.", says NY Times.[6] "Wrong" was listed as one of the best songs of the week by Billboard.
