Me, Myself and I is a song recorded by American singer Beyoncé from her debut solo studio album Dangerously in Love (2003).

The song was sent by Columbia Records and Music World Entertainment to contemporary hit radio in the United States on October 19, 2003.

Lyrically, "Me, Myself and I" is an R&B song about dealing with a philandering partner and learning from the consequences.

In June 2018, Malik covered the song as a "taster" for his upcoming album.[1]

"Me, Myself and I" was the third single released from Dangerously in Love, which followed "Crazy in Love" and "Baby Boy". It was written by Beyoncé, Scott Storch and Robert Waller and produced by Storch with guitar played by musician Aaron Fishbein.

Beyoncé stated that it was more personal than her previous records because she only had to write for herself. She contacted various musical collaborators. Beyoncé decided that she wanted a deeper and more personal song for the next single. Following the release of the song, Beyoncé told Corey Moss of MTV News: "['Me, Myself and I'] is really powerful. It talks about women basically listening to their inner voice and knowing that they will never disappoint themselves."

The former One Direction member recently took to Twitter to say he’s got “a few surprises” on the way for fans, sharing a cover of Beyoncé‘s 2003 single "Me, Myself, And I". Turning the track into a silky, funk-inflected slow jam, the cover reveals further commitment to the soul roots established on tracks like "Truth".

"I'm trying to keep it as mysterious as possible, but there's a plan with the roll out," the 25-year-old singer said in an interview with Variety about his album. "It's going to be different than anything anyone has done before."

Some fans got torn by the release of the cover.[2] Basically, the song is changed to a man's perspective. Fans of both Zayn and Bey had lots of differing opinions on Twitter. Some thought it was a great match for Zayn's voice. But others are tripped up by the flipped narrative and aren't into the cover at all as a result.[3][4]

Malik changed some of the original lyrics to make more sense for a man to sing.
