Fireproof is the ninth track on One Direction's fourth studio album, Four.[1]

The song was available as a free download for 24 hours on the band's website to give fans a preview of what to expect from the album.

The song had been added to the official tracklist on the On the Road Again Tour.

The lyrics are similar to "Strong" in that they detail what it takes to openly love and rely on another person in various ways.

The band members, along with the band's official account, tweeted about Fireproof, adding that the song would only be available to download for 24 hours. Within those 24 hours, the song generated 1.1 million downloads.

The song introduced fans to One Direction's more mature, introspective and indie-rock sound.

Both Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson have repeatedly said the song is a favorite of theirs, with Tomlinson noting that he "straight away fell in love with" the song and that it "felt cool to be involved in writing that track".

Payne briefly sang the chorus of the song at the Rose Bowl concert on September 11, 2014, and Harry Styles sang brief snippets of it during a September 16 show.

On July 21, 2015, at the Edmonton stop of the On The Road Again tour, "Fireproof" was performed for the first time. Liam told the crowd afterward that the song "means a lot to me" and recalled the songwriting session where it was created.
